Course Offering: How to be Bad

For readers living in the diocese of Wagga Wagga, I will be assisting St Michael’s Cathedral with a course offering entitled “How to be Bad”, a four-week introduction to the capital vices, beginning on Tuesday 10 October at 7:00pm.

The course is intended to be a whistlestop tour of the capital vices for non-specialists, running over the next four Tuesdays. It will look at the history of the vices and their place in the history of the Church. More importantly, in looking at each of the vices in turn, we will be exploring how they affect our sense of self, our relationships with the world and others, and ultimately, how they affect our relationship with God.

In preparing for this course, I found incredibly helpful Rebecca De Young’s short introduction to the capital vices entitled Glittering Vices.

Registrations are necessary, and the course would cost $20 per person. All proceeds will go to supporting Esencia Life Centre, a counseling, motherhood and pregnancy service dedicated to servicing everyone but especially those living in the Riverina region.
