Sources on the Road
I will be away accompanying our bishop and Catholic Education in the Diocese of Wagga Wagga on a pilgrimage. Given the constant movement from one site to another and the time difference, I anticipate that I will not be in a position to reliably update the blog until my return at the beginning of October.
The time away is an opportunity to recap some previous highlights with some helpful ancillary resources. Highlights include:
My visit and lecture at Campion College Australia, on the subject of Catholic Migrant Identity. The video of this presentation can be found by clicking here.
Preparing the material for my lecture at Campion was the opportunity to revisit my interview with The Political Animals Podcast on Catholicism in contemporary Australia.
During question time at that presentation in Campion, I made reference to some earlier research where I put forward the idea of a “kenotic identity politics”, which was published in the journal Religions. You can also find my other articles on Religions by clicking here.
A reminder of how, intentionally or otherwise, we find ourselves pursuing holograms of others or even ourselves.
I have also been doing some research for a larger project on a theological engagement with pornography, which found its first articulation in my article in the Australasian Catholic Review entitled “Pornography & Christology”. This occasioned me revisiting some of my earlier work which I somehow formed into words on a number of podcasts, including one with The Naked Gospel, the Living Fullness podcast, and on CPX’s Life & Faith podcast.
While we are talking about CPX, I also had the opportunity to speak with Justine Toh earlier this year about Lent on another episode of Life and Faith.
To help create the soundtrack for the reading, I recently came across the synthwave act Gunship, and have included a playlist of their songs here. In fact, one of these songs provided the backdrop for a post I hope to share upon my return.
In terms of what to expect after I return, I hope to be able to share an essay soon on Notre Dame University’s Church Life Journal. When published, it will be my fourth essay with them, though you can see the other three by clicking here.
While we are talking about things after I return, there will be new developments happening that I hope to share in the coming months.
In the meantime, I will be sure to bring the intentions of my family, friends, colleagues and readers with me in this pilgrimage. Please pray for me.
